So You’ve Received Seed Paper — Now What?
What is Seed Paper?
Plantable (Seed) Paper is made in Canada with post consumer, post industrial paper, meaning no trees were harmed in making them. Wildflower seeds are mixed into the paper and will sprout beautiful flowers once planted and watered!
How to plant seed paper:
1. Place seed paper on soil that is slightly compressed, but not too hard-packed.
2. Add 1/8 inch of soil on top of paper and add a good drink of water.
3. Monitor to make sure it’s always moist and in a sunny spot.
4. Wait for sprouts — you should see them within 7-10 days!

When and where should seed paper be planted?
Spring is the best time to plant if you live in the Lower Mainland, or in other areas of BC where the ground does not freeze in winter. However, fall is ideal if you live in a climate where the ground stays frozen for several months.
Seed paper can be planted indoors year-round in a pot of soil near a window that gets plenty of sunlight.
How long does seed paper take to grow?
Sprouts should appear within 7-10 days, with wildflowers typically blooming within 8-12 weeks.
What types of flowers will the seed paper produce?
This seed paper contains a classic wildflower seed blend with flowers like Bird’s Eye, Clarkia, Black Eyed Susan, Sweet Alyssum, Catchfly and Snapdragon.
Why is planting seed paper good for public health?
Wildflowers attract bees, and bees are native pollinators that play a critical role in food production! They pollinate important crops like fruits, vegetables, nuts, and oilseeds. Not only is their work important to ensure food security and food sovereignty for rural populations, but farmers rely heavily on native pollinators, as they generate 2.8B in income from these crops each year. Native pollinator populations are being threatened by habitat destruction, pesticide use, and various parasites. By planting these beautiful wildflowers, you are spreading awareness about the recent decline of the bee population, and creating a habitat to help ensure food security and sustainability for generations to come.
